Middle School Baseball Closes out Season with win over Highlands

Knights Win: 13 - 3
The Knoch Knights Middle School Baseball Team finished out its inaugural season on Wednesday with a convincing 13-3 win over Highlands.  Knoch got behind early, trailing by 3 after the first inning.  In the top of the second inning Knoch would get on the board when Alex Eddy hit a single to right field scoring Evan Fink.  Alex Eddy later scored on a passed ball to bring the score within 1.  Kyle Morgan would bear down on the mound in the bottom of the second inning keeping the score 3-2 Highlands after 2 innings.  In the top of the 3rd inning Knoch put the game away scoring 11 runs.  Kyle Morgan, Alex Eddy, Dylan Roth, and Danny Simons all recorded hits in the inning.  Kyle Morgan shut down Highlands again in the 3rd inning allowing zero hits, finishing his day with seven strike outs, and allowing 3 hits and 3 runs over 3 innings.  Danny Simons replaced Morgan on the mound for the 4th and 5th inning.  Simons would allow no runs on 1 hit to close out the game. Knoch recorded 10 hits on the day with Alex Eddy and Dante Pelloni recording 2 hits each to lead the team.  Kyle Morgan, Dylan Roth, and David Breese led the team with 2 RBIs each.  9 of the Knoch Knights would score runs in the game with Evan Fink, Carter Beres, Cooper Allison, and Alex Eddy all recording 2 each. This game capped off the inaugural Knoch Knight Middle School Baseball season.  Over the course of the season the team racked up 14 wins, 2 ties and only 2 losses.  Knoch outscored their opponents 194-67.  Beyond the stats, the Community pulled together to make the season happen.  This inaugural season would not have been possible without the support/help of the Knoch School Board, Knoch A.D. Kurt Reiser, Saxonburg Area Baseball Association, Countless Business Partners, and all the Community Volunteers. The Players, Coaches, Parents are all grateful for the support of the community and cannot wait to see what the future holds for the Knoch Knights Baseball Program!

Knights Lose: 6 - 6
Knoch Knights Middle School baseball team fought Highlands in a close contest that ended in a 6-6 tie. Knoch took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Landon Harrison hit a single scoring 2 runs. Kaden Dreher also moved a run across the plate in the inning. The Knights would fall behind in the top of the 4th inning after surrendering 3 runs. Knoch fought back in the bottom of the 5th inning plating 2 runs when Dreher and Evan Fink singled to start the inning.  Carter Beres pinch ran for Dreher and was hit in by Alex Eddy and Fink scored when Harrison hit a line drive to the right center gap. Knoch tied the game in the 6th inning when Kyle Morgan hit a triple, followed by a balk by the Rams pitcher. The game would remain tied after 7 innings and after the extra inning (8th) the game was called due to darkness. Knoch Knights had 10 hits during the contest.  Morgan and Harrison led the team with 2 each. Knoch and Highlands will play a rematch on Wednesday May 11th at Highlands. The Knights are 12-2-2 in the inagural Knoch Knights Middle School baseball program season.

Knights Win: 12 - 1
Knoch Knights Middle School easily handled Woodland Hills 12-1 on Wednesday Knoch put up three runs in the sixth inning.  The Knights offense in the inning was led by Alex Eddy and Landon Harrison, who each had RBIs in the inning. Cooper Allison was the winning pitcher for Knoch. The right hander allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out five.  Kaden Dreher, Dante Pelloni, and Easton Fundark all put in work in relief out of the bullpen. Knoch totaled ten hits in the game. Brady Linamen and Danny Simons had multiple hits for Knoch. The Knights stole 13 bases during the game, Linamen led the way with three.

Knights Win: 20 - 10
Knoch Knights Middle School basbeball team easily defeated Fox Chapel 20-10 on Monday 5/2/2022 at Laura J. Doerr Park.   Knoch had 13 hits and stole 14 bases in the contest. Cooper Allison, Ryan McCurdy and Kyle Morgan all collected multiple hits on the day. Hunter Lang took the win on the mound allowing 1 run over 2 1/3 innings pitched.

Knights Lose: 3 - 6
Knoch Knights Middle School baseball team fell to Avonworth 6-3 on Friday 04/29/2022.  The Knights started off scoring a run in the first inning.  However, Avonworth tied the score in the bottom of the first before going ahead for good in the second inning when they scored 3 runs.  Both teams would put up an additional two runs throughout the rest of the game. Allison and Morgan had multiple hits for the Knights in the game.

Knights Win: 17 - 2
Knoch Knights Middle School baseball team bounced back after suffering there 2nd loss of the season to beat Valley 17-2 on Saturday 4/30/2022 at Laura J Doerr park. Knoch scored nine runs in the third inning .  Dylan Roth, Kaden Dreher, Dante Pelloni, Cooper Allison, Kyle Morgan and Brady Linamen each had RBI's in the inning. Danny Simons took the win for Knoch on the mound allowing 2 runs while striking out 4 batters.  Morgan pitched in relief allowing no runs. Knoch crushed the ball with 15 hits in the game.  Allison, Pelloni, Simons, Dreher and David Breese racked up multiple hits.  Allison led the team with 3 hits.

Knights Win: 12 - 1
Knoch Knights Middle School offense was fired up on Monday scoring 12 runs and easily defeating Shady Side Academy 12-1. Knoch got the scoring started in the third inning when Evan Fink doubled, scoring one run.  Pelloni and Allison also collected RBI's in the inning and an additional run was scored on an error by Shady Side Academy for a 4 run inning.  Knoch would score 4 more rns in the 4th inning and 7th inning. Danny Simons took the victory on the mound.  Danny allowed zero runs on one hit while striking out 3 batters in 2 2/3 innings of work.  Knoch had 12 hits in the game with McCurdy, Simons, Allison and fink all managaing multiple hits.

Knights Win: 5 - 2
Knoch Knights Middle School took down Avonworth on Friday 5-2.  Cooper Allison got the offense started in the first winning when he hit a double scoring a run, Knoch would tally 4 runs in the inning.  Zane Pacek took the victory on the mound pitching 5 1/3 innings allowing zero runs on zero hits while striking out 12 and only walking one.  Knoch would get an insurance run in the 6th inning helping to close out the game with a 5-2 victory. Knoch and Avonworth will have a rematch on April 29th at Avonworth.

Knights Lose: 4 - 4
Knoch Knights Middle school tied Fox Chapel on Wednesday 4-4.  Knoch tallied four runs in the fourth inning with Pelloni, Roth, Breese and Dreher all driving in runs in the frame. Knoch let Fox Chapel tie the game in the fifth inning at 4. Due to the lack of light/sun the game was called by the Umpires after the 6th inning.

Knights Win: 18 - 9
Knoch Knights Middle School snagged a late lead and defeated Valley 18-9 on Saturday April 23.  Knoch trailed 6-5 in the top of the fifth inning when Brady Linamen singled scoring 2 runs.  Knoch would go on to score a total of 7 runs in the inning.  Knoch would tack on an additional 3 runs in the 6th and 4 runs in the 7th to take the victory.   Cooper Allison, Brady Linamen and Kyle Morgan all managed multiple hits in the game.  Kyle Morgan and Kaden Dreher led the team in stolen bases each with 3 and a team total of 16 stolen bases.

Knights Lose: 4 - 5
Thursday's game against Plum was a heartbreaker for the Knoch Knights Middle School, as they lost the lead late in the 7th inning in a 5-4 defeat.  The game was tied at three with the Knights batting in the top of the 5th when Cooper Allison singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. In the first inning, the Knights got their offense started when Kyle Morgan's sac fly scored one run.  Zane Pacek pitched six and a third innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out 13.  Pacek also went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Knights in hits.

Knights Win: 12 - 4
Knoch Knights Middle School put up nine runs in the second inning on it's way to a 12-4 victory over North Hills Middle School on Wednesday. The offensive firepower by the Knights was led Eddy, Linamen, Allison, Pelloni, Lang and Fundark, all driving in runs in the frame. North Hills got things started in the first inning when Eddy induced a fielders choice hit, but one run scored. In the bottom of the first inning, the Knights tied things up at two when McCurdy and Allison hit back to back solo home runs. The Knights pulled away for good with nine runs in the second inning.  In the second an error scored one run, Linamen singled on 1-0 count, scoring one run, Allison singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, Pelloni singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs, Lang doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run and Fundark doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Simons was the winning pitcher for Knoch.  The righty came in with 2 outs in the first inning and lasted two and a third innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out five and walking one.  Linamen and Breese entered the game out of the bullpen and helpted to close out the game in relief. The Knights scattered 13 hits in the game and commited no errors.  Pelloni, Allison, Lang, and Breese all had multiple hits for Knoch.

Knights Win: 11 - 1
Knoch Knights won against Deer Lakes 11-1 on Thursday, April 12. Knoch Knights got on the board in the first inning when Ryan McCurdy hit a solo homer.    The Knights put up five runs in the fifth inning led by Cooper Allison, Kyle Morgan, and Easton Fundark, all driving in runs. Allison was the winning pitching for Knoch.  He went 4 innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out eight and walking one.  Hunter Lang threw one inning. The Knights tallied 12 hits on the day.  McCurdy, Allison, and Brady Linamen each collected multiple hits.  McCurdy went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Knights.  Dante Pelloni let the Knights with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases.
