Boys Varsity WrestlingOur Men’s Varsity team battled hard this weekend at the Hickory Invitational Tournament, finishing 16th out of 31 teams!Top performers for the Knights were Owen Layhew, Brad McGowan, and Keegan Orris:• Owen Layhew (145 lbs) – After dropping his first match, Owen stormed back with 6 straight wins, taking 3rd place in a 31-man bracket. Of his 6 wins, 3 were by technical fall.• Brad McGowan (152 lbs) – Went 4-3 on the weekend, finishing 6th in a 32-man bracket. Of his 4 wins, 3 came by pinfall.• Keegan Orris (160 lbs) – Posted a strong 4-2 record, earning 7th place in a 33-man bracket. Boys Varsity WrestlingThe Knights hit the road to open the 25-26 season and are coming home with 1 in the win column with a final score of 42-35 over Woodland Hills. It was a back and forth match but the Knights took the lead for good after the middle weight bouts. Notching wins for the Knights by pin fall were Jarrett Crowe (133lbs), Owen Layhew (145lbs), Brad McGowan (152lbs), Keegan Orris (160lbs), and Karson Welsh (189lbs). Caden Hassler (121lbs) and Cole Haugh (127lbs) both picked up forfeits. The Knights go to Hickory this Friday and Saturday for their first tournament of the season.
