Knights Win: 32 - 28
The 7th Grade Boys Basketball team hosted Deer Lakes on Thursday, and the fans got their money’s worth!  The Lancers beat the Knights 28-24 at Deer Lakes on Dec. 19th, and in the rematch Knoch prevailed 32-28 in an Overtime thriller with a packed house and a loud and supportive student section.   In a game that featured tough defense and where points were hard to come by, the Knights held a 6-4 lead after the first quarter, but found themselves down 14-12 at the half.  Knoch’s outside shooting went cold in the 3rd quarter against Deer Lakes’ 2-3 zone and at the end of 3 trailed 25-16.  In the 4th quarter, Knoch held Deer Lakes to 2 points and got huge 3 pointers in the frame from Jon Slusser and Connor McCool to cut into the Deer Lakes’ lead.  With under a minute left in regulation, Noah Larva hit his second 3 ball of the game to tie it up and the Knights held the Lancers on defense to send it to OT. Deer Lakes took a 1 point lead in OT on a free throw, and the teams went back and forth for most of the extra frame.  With just over 8 seconds left, Andrew Roddy hit his second 3 of the game to put the Knights up by 2, grabbed a defensive rebound on Deer Lakes’ ensuing possession, got fouled, and went to the free throw line with 2.8 seconds on the clock to shoot a one and one.  Roddy sank two to put the game on ice. Larva led the Knights with 9, Roddy had 8, Slusser and Mason Heller had 6, and McCool 3.  With the win, the Knights improve to 8-4 on the season and travel to Apollo Ridge on Monday, and then host Butler and Highlands on Thursday and Friday to close out their season.
