Congratulations to Miranda Lajevic who placed 3rd in the very first ever Girls Varsity Wrestling WPIAL championships hosted at North Allegheny HS. Miranda advanced to the PIAA West Regionals on March 2nd at Cannon-Mac High School where the top 4 moved on to Hershey! Congrats Miranda and Good Luck!

The Knights took 6 wrestlers to the WPIAL AA Eastern Sections where the top 6 advance to next weeks WPIAL Championships. We had 3 wrestlers qualify to advance. Jarrett Crowe placed 6th at 121lbs, Owen Layhew placed 4th at 145lbs, and Parker Anderson finished as your sectional runner up with 2nd place! Congratulations men, and good luck at WPIALS!

Knights Lose: 21 - 54
Although it was a tough 54-21 loss to Shaler, the Knights celebrated their seniors tonight. Brady Pflugh and Owen Layhew won by fall, Parker Anderson received a forfeit, and Brayden McGowan won a decision. The Knights finish the season 10-8 and will head to individual sections next week!

Knights Win: 45 - 27
The Knights traveled to West Shamokin Wednesday night for their last road match of the season. Bringing home a win with a score of 45-27. Picking up wins for the Knights by fall were Cam Elliott, Owen Layhew, Wyatt Foster, Parker Anderson, and Braylee Ireland. Miranda Lajevic and Jarrett Crowe picked up forfeits and Brayden McGowan won by decision. The Knights improved to 10-7 on the season. Their first 10 win season in school history. They're back on the mat Friday to finish out their dual meet schedule vs Shaler to celebrate senior night!

The Knights hosted Brashear Hs Monday evening for their first of 3 matches this week! Picking up wins for the Knights were Paul Kuczynski, Cam Elliott, Wyatt Foster, and Brady Pflugh all by Fall! Brayden McGowan secured a tech fall! Miranda Lajevic, Braylee Ireland, Owen Layhew, Parker Anderson all won via forfeit. The Knights continue their busy senior week Wednesday when they head to West Shamokin HS!
Varsity Wrestling vs. Summit Academy

Knights Win: 65 - 9
The Knights hosted Summit Academy Wednesday evening in their last section match of the season winning 65-9. An undermanned Summit team gave up forfeits in the first 6 bouts to Miranda Lajevic, Braylee Ireland, Jarrett Crowe, Paul Kuczynski, Brayden McGowan, and Tanner Crowe. Cam Elliott, Derrick Glover, Wyatt Foster, and Parker Anderson won by fall. Owen Layhew won by tech fall establishing a new benchmark for Knoch HS tech falls. The Knights travel to Sharon, PA Saturday for the Sharon Duals Tournament!

The Knights traveled to Elwood City for another section match Wednesday night and came away with a win 41-33. Winning for the Knights were Brady Pflugh, Wyatt Foster, Parker Anderson, Miranda Lajevic, and Brayden McGowan all by fall. Owen Layhew won by Tech Fall, and Braylee Ireland won via forfeit.

The Knights went to the Valley Duals Tournament Saturday morning. Wrestling matches against South Park and Valley. The first match was against South Park.
KNIGHTS: 65
SOUTH PARK HS: 12
Picking up wins for the Knights were Braylee Ireland, Miranda Lajevic, Jordan Auther, Owen Layhew, and Lucas Rouleau via forfeit. Jarrett Crowe, Brayden McGowan, Derrick Glover, Wyatt Foster, Brady Pflugh, and Parker Anderson all won by fall.
Their second Match was against Valley.
KNIGHTS: 47
VALLEY HS: 27
Picking up wins for the nights in this one were Lucas Rouleau, Miranda Lajevic, Wyatt Foster, Parker Anderson, and Derrick Glover via forfeits. Paul Kuczynski won by fall, and Owen Layhew added a Tech Fall.
The Knights walked away with 1st Place!

Knights Lose: 24 - 45
The Knights traveled to Highlands and put up a valiant effort against last years section champs. Falling by a score of 45-24 in a tightly contested match. Picking up wins for the Knights were Owen Layhew, Brady Pflugh, Wyatt Foster, and Parker Anderson all by fall! The Knights go to Valley Saturday for the Valley Duals tournament.
Bo Wood 2024 Tournament

The Knights Varsity Wrestling Team competed at the 2024 Bo Wood Tournament at Indiana High School. They placed 6th as a team in the 16 team tournament walking away with 5 Varsity Medals and 1 in the JV division. Placing for the Knights were Brady Carbungco with 2nd in the JV division. Jarrett Crowe, Wyatt Foster, and Parker Anderson all placed 4th, Miranda Lajevic placed 3rd, and your 2024 Bo Wood 145lb Tournament Champion was Owen Layhew!

Knights Lose: 16 - 43
The Knights fell to visiting Laurel 43-16 in a section match Wednesday night. Picking up wins for the Knights were Owen Layhew by Major Decision, Brayden McGowan, and Paul Kuczynski both won by fall. The Knights also held their youth appreciation night. Chase Lafever and Luke Gould both put on a nice exhibit of youth wrestling. Luke won by decision, and Chase won by fall!

Knights Lose: 31 - 39
The Knights dropped a nail biter on the road at Hampton 39-31. Picking up wins for the Knights by fall were Miranda Lajevic, Jarrett Crowe, and Owen Layhew. Braylee Ireland won by Major Decision and Wyatt Foster won a decision. Paul Kucynzski won via forfeit. The Knights are off until 1/3/24 when they wrestle Laurel at home.

Knights Win: 60 - 18
The Knights Varsity Wrestling team set out to make a statement Wednesday night when they visited North Catholic to open section competition. They did just that racking up 6 pins in a 60-18 victory. Winning by fall for the Knights were Jarrett Crowe, Cam Elliott, Brayden McGowan, Owen Layhew, Derrick Glover, and Parker Anderson. Braylee Ireland won via default, Miranda Lajevic, Brady Pflugh, and Wyatt Foster all won via forfeit. Next up they travel to Hampton for another key section match! Knoch improves to 2-1 (1-0).

The Knoch Varsity Wrestling team fell to a stout visiting Pine Richland team 49-18. Picking up wins for the Knights were Paul Kuczynski and Owen Layhew by fall and Derrick Glover via forfeit. They get right back into action Wednesday when they travel to North Catholic for a section match.

Knights Win: 42 - 33
The Knights Varsity Wrestling team had their first dual of the season Wednesday evening. They traveled to Mars HS and picked up a hard fought win 42-33 in a tight one that came down to the last match. Picking up wins for the Knights leading up to that last match were Wyatt Foster, Parker Anderson, and Brayden McGowan by Fall. Miranda Lajevic, Braylee Ireland, and Jarrett Crowe won via forfeit. Heading into the final match with the score 33-36, Brady Pflugh picked up the fall securing the 42-33 win. The Knights are 1-0 on the young season.

The Knights varsity wrestling team competed over the weekend in the Hickory Invitational Tournament. Overall this Knights finished 15th out of 28 teams. Junior Wyatt Foster was named to the Tournaments All-Academic Team. Individual place winners were Miranda Lajevic (107lbs) 4th place, Owen Layhew (152lbs) 7th Place, and Wyatt Foster (215lbs) 7th Place.
