Last evening the Knoch Knights traveled to take on backyard rival the Mars Fighting Planets.  What an exciting game that went down to the final 20 seconds of the game where the Mars team held on to defeat Knoch 54-49.  The game opened with both teams hitting big shots and after the first quarter Mars was up 19-16.  The teams traded buckets during the next quarter to go into the half with Mars up 29-26.  The third quarter ended in a 40-40 deadlock to set up the battle down the stretch.  Knoch took the early lead in the fourth period to only see Mars come back with some timely shots down the stretch.  The Knights had the ball out of bounds with 20 seconds down 52-49 and came up short with several good looking three pointers to try and tie the game.  Mars hit the final two fouls shots to seal the victory.  Maddie Boyer was the Knights leading scorer netting 22 points.  The Knights record is 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in section play.  The girls will be in the Kiski Area Christmas Tournament over the Holiday Break with games on Tuesday Dec 28 vs Ligonier Valley, Wednesday Dec 29 vs Kiski Area and Thursday Dec 30 vs Yough.  Good Luck Knights.
